PELVIC FLOOR PHYSICAL THERAPHY
Why You Need Pelvic PhysicalTherapy
Pelvic floor physical therapy is used to treat a variety of conditions that can affect the pelvic floor muscles. These muscles support the pelvic organs and are essential in maintaining continence, respiration and sexual function. Conditions that can be treated with pelvic floor physical therapy include:

-
Urinary incontinence
-
Pelvic pain
-
Interstitial cystitis
-
Pelvic organ prolapse
-
Constipation
-Dyspareunia (pain with intercourse)

-Pain during pregnancy and/or postpartum

-Diastasis rectus

Pelvic floor physical therapy can help to improve symptoms by strengthening the pelvic floor muscles and surrounding areas, decreasing pelvic floor tension, correcting improper breathing mechanics and educating on toileting habits. The therapist will work with the patient to develop a personalized treatment plan that may include exercises, manual therapy, therapeutic exercises, neuromuscular re-education, and/or education on pelvic health.
